Quick Backround: For over a year, I have been actively trying to get my own line of crown cases going. My carpenter Father-in-Law made a few cases based on my drawings. However, we didn't have the right equipment to get the really polished, professional look I was insisting upon. Additionally, there are a few little detail "specialties" that I felt very strongly about incoroporating into the design, to really set these cases apart from the other on the market. We started working with a local cabinet maker to see what it would take to have them make the wooden cases for us.

We saw the prototype this past Saturday. With a few minor tweaks, we'll have the perfect case! I've placed my order for the first batch of cases. I have been told to expect a turn around time of about 2-4 weeks. Over the weekend, I am going to have my husband help me get the cases posted for sale. Please be aware that you may still need to wait up to 1 month to receive your case after order, as I can only afford to purchase so many of these cases at any given time.

The cases are being made by Fredericks. They are located just a half hour from my house.

All of the cases will be made from solid oak and feature precision cut mitered corners.

I will personally be lining the plywood bottom of the cases with White velvet. Integrated hardware will allow you to safely hang the case on a wall, or display the case on a bookshelf or coffee table (without fear of scratching your table!).

Strong and sturdy hinges and latch mechanism have been carefully thought out to be as invisible as possible, so all you see is the beautiful case and your crowns. The cases are hand constructed (not done by machine). The stains are all applied by hand.

These are Heirloom quality cases!

The prototype was stained in Pecan. This is not a color I plan on stocking, but you may request it.

3 Case sizes: (I put a lot of thought into sizing. Many of my crowns are larger/taller than your typical crown. Additionally, since I make custom crown sizes, not all crowns are the same diameter. My line of cases will accomodate 99% of my customized crowns)

Small 15” long x 12” wide x 1.5”deep --this size will display most of the crowns I make.

Medium 19” long x 13” wide x 1.5” deep -- this size will display nearly all of the crowns, and offers a different way to display crowns than you normally see

Large 19” long x 13” wide x 2.5” deep --this size accomodated the tallest of the crowns that I make on a regular basis. Allows a new way to showcase crowns.

***I currently have my first order in for a batch of the Medium Cases. I will be ordering a round of the small cases in a few weeks, I think.

***Custom case sizes can be acommodated, subject to surcharge

Finish

Fredericks prefers to use Minwax Wood Finish stains. In the future, I may be expaning the number of finishes I order. In the meantime, I will be offering these 5 colors. (Custom colors may be requested. Subject to potential surcharge.)

Ebony Ebony stain finish

Pickled Oak Pickled Oak stain

Natural natural stain

Gunstock

Dark Walnut dark walnut stain

Viewing Panel/Window
The goal with this case design it to allow the crowns to really be the art work here..not the case. Therefore, my cases offer a larger 'viewing panel' then any other case I've seen. Becuase you're getting such a large window, we really thought about the best material. Glass is an obvious choice. however, it scratches, it's fragile, and it's heavy. Therefore, I have opted to go with Lexan Plexiglass. It is a very tough, scratch resistant material. Its light weight makes hanging this case less of a safety concern. It will not shatter....it's easy to care for. And best of all, I dare you to tell me it doesn't look clearer than glass. If you would rather have glass, feel free to ask. There may be a small additional fee for a glass insert.

Icon:
I am personally making (well, really, engraving) each icon. I plan on offering matching wooden icons, and even a line of metal icons. As of right now I plan on stocking each case with a matching wooden icon of the Theotokos and Christ. I've also been told that an icon of Ss Constantine and Helen is a popular choice. I would also like to make it possible for you to request a custom icon of the couple's patron saints. more on that soon.

Case Pricing:

Small $215

Medium $245

Large $245

Engraving:
I'm happy to be able to offer engraving on the crown cases. I will be engraving a plaque (Aluminum or Brass, your choice) and use very nice, clean little screws to affix the plaques to the case. I picture the best placement being centered up on either the upper or lower trim piece around the viewing window. If you'd like it placed elsewhere. You may be limited on the numer of charaters. Engraving will be $30/case. And you may still select any font of your choice.
