Update: July 7, 2010
alright, well, this update is LONG overdue, so my apologies about that. The important thing to note, though, is that we don't have a finished crown case product just yet.
Before we left town, my father-in-law and I were really trying to come up with a finished product. But I'm being picky, and just didn't feel like we had just the right design, yet.
So Alan is working on some prototypes while we're in England. and when we return home in November, I'll be going over them. and so hopefully just after the New Year I will have a line of cases to offer all of you. Thanks for your patience during all of this. It is taking longer than I had hoped. But I also want to make sure that these cases are a quiality product and bring to life everything that I have imagined.
Crown case update! (2/24/10)
Alan, my father-in-law, finished a couple of crown case prototypes the other day..and putting the finishing touches on what should be the perfect example of the cases we will start offering shortly.
Once I have photos of this crown case posted, I will start accepting official orders for the cases.
in the meantime, I'll go ahead and list out some of the features of my line of cases, along with the size/finsh options.
All the cases will feature:
*solid oak constructon.
*an integrated/recessed magnetic closure, which will allow very secure storage for the crowns, but also easy access to the crowns when needed.
*a full edge of solid metal hinge to ensure smooth opening and closing.
*large glass inlay for the lid, edged in matching oak.
*recessed hanging handrware....so you can hang the case on your wall..or you may lay it flat on a coffee table/bookshelf without fear of scratching up the underlying surface.
*integrated interior hanging system for the crowns.
*"floor" panel of the cases will be lined in white velvet and a small engraved icon (made by yours truly) will be affixed in the center of the case
Case finish options
* Honey stained Oak
*Cherry stained Oak
*Mahogany stained Oak
*Black Laquered finished Oak
*White lacquered finished Oak
Case sizes
**There will be 3 case sizes from which to choose, depending on which crowns you purchase + how you would like to have your crowns displayed.
*Small....crowns will overlap on-another (think olympic ring overlay). This will work for most of the crowns..but more specifically, the thinner contemporary crowns all the way up to 1/2" tall crowns.
*medium...allows crowns to sit side-by-side. also a little deeper than the "small" case...so accomodates the vase majority of crowns. this is a great arrangement if your crowns feature a full interior engraving...allows you uninteruppted views of that detail.
*Large case...largest and deepest case. Again, allows crowns to site side-by-side..but accomdates the tallest and fullest crowns, includeing the "Alexander" crowns, and the olympus crowns.
**custom sizes will be availble for order, if , for example, you would also like to include your candles. at some point, that may be a "stock" size, but I'm not sure of the demand for that style. So we'll play that by ear.
**will also have the option of having the exterior of your cases engraved with your names/date
prices are not quite set for the cases yet, but good faith estimates are
small $160-200
medium $180-$225
large $200-$250
Currently, the cases will be made upon demand and may ship separately from the rest of your order. But soon, we will have a full range of stock of the cases made and ready to go.
